Although we aim to achieve as much effective and meaningful inclusion as possible, some pupils find the mainstream classroom environment difficult to cope with for a variety of reasons. For these pupils, a more appropriate learning base is offered. Nurture Groups provide a safe predictable, structured environment which meets all the pupil’s needs, emotional, social and learning, in a way that is not possible in a mainstream classroom.
The aim of the Nurture
Group is to nurture, develop and raise self esteem, create positive self image
and relationships through a warm friendly, caring and nurturing atmosphere,
in a highly structured and consistent environment which enables each pupil
to feel secure and valued.
Nurture, sensitivity, understanding and consistent structure underpins the
ethos of the group.
The nurture group principle
and practice offers…
• Nurturing
• Predictable interactions and routines
• Clear boundaries
• Consistency of approach
• Security
• The opportunity to improve self esteem and confidence through positive
experiences which lead to achievement and success.
