Our SEN Team

Our SEN team at Pembroke Dock Community School offers a range of expertise to support your child led by our Headteacher with support from.......

Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator - Mrs Carolyn Griffiths
Mrs Griffiths has gained considerable expertise in SEN through many specialist courses and a wealth of teaching experience.  She has the B.D.A. (British Dyslexia Association) Approved Teacher Status and is also a member of the Senior Management Team.

Mrs Sue Benbow
Mrs Benbow  coordinates the SEN provision and support for High Dependency pupils, pupils in Early Years and pupils with Autism who are based in mainstream.  She is also specialist teacher  within the Centre for pupils with Autism at the School.  Mrs Benbow has considerable expertise in this area of SEN and and was awarded her M.Ed. Degree from Birmingham University in 2006.

Learning Support Assistants and Teaching Assistants at Pembroke Dock Community School have expertise in the following areas…..

LSAs and Teaching Assistants at Pembroke Dock Community School have an important role to play, making a valuable contribution to the education of pupils with SEN.  They are the means by which SEN children can access the curriculum, make sense of the school environment, and participate in school life while also gaining some independence.

LSAs and Teaching Assistants provide a variety of support which can include 1:1 withdrawal for specific intervention programmes, small group withdrawal, inclusive support within set or class, specialist larger group programmes and support at lunch and break times.
